How to make a change to your schedule

Conditional add/drop can be used when you want to drop a course only if adding a different course is successful. If you use the conditional add/drop function, changes to your schedule will only be made if all conditions are met. Some examples of how this feature may be useful to you is when you want to:

• swap one course for another scheduled at the same time
• switch one section of a course for a different open section of the same course
• or if you are hoping to add a course that only has a few open seats available

Instructions

1. In the add/drop menu in HokieSPA, add the course you want to switch into as normal
2. In the summary panel, locate the course you plan to drop. Select “Drop Web” in the drop down menu in the Actions Column
3. Select the check box next to “conditional add and drop”
   • Important: you MUST select this checkbox to utilize the conditional add/drop feature. If you do not, your request will process like a normal add and drop which may result in one action getting processed while the other does not
4. Click Submit
